Cape Town - Elias Pelembe and Mamelodi Sundowns are set to enter into contract negotiations as the Brazilians look to tie down the experienced midfielder.
The 30-year-old is reportedly the top paid player in the Premier Soccer League, and has consistently demonstrated why that is the case, featuring in all of Sundowns' fixtures thus far this season.
With the Mozambican's current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Downs are eager to get Pelembe onto a new contract but without the drawn out negotiations that blighted previous discussions.
"We plan to start as early as next month to talk about a new contract for Pelembe, but there are no concerns from both parties regarding reaching an agreement. For many reasons, we know that the previous discussions were long and complicated," Pelembe's agent, Tim Sukazi, told the Sowetan.
"The player is keen to stay at Sundowns and he is playing regularly at the moment, but a Pelembe contract is special."
Pelembe joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in 2009 and has gone on to become a key member of Pitso Mosimane's side.
Mamelodi Sundowns host Free State Stars in the the next round of PSL action. The match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium kicks off at 20:15 on Saturday.
Sundowns can ill-afford to slip up against the men from the Free State as they seek to close the 10 point gap between themselves and log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
