Cape Town - Elias Pelembe believes he will be the lucky charm that brings trophies to Bidvest Wits, having won silverware at every club he has represented.
The Mozambique international joined the Clever Boys during the current transfer period after a frustrating spell at Mamelodi Sundowns, where he saw limited game time under Pitso Mosimane.
Pelembe joined a Wits side that last won a trophy in 2010 when they lifted the Nedbank Cup, although they will have the opportunity to take another step towards changing that when they face Ajax Cape Town in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals in Stellenbosch on Saturday.
"I have won something in every team that I have played for, from Deportivo Maputo back home, to SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns," Pelembe told Football411.
"I am sure that I will also win something at Wits, with the players that we have. I am not here to prove anything. I am here to win. I just have to do my best. I don't have to prove to anyone that I am this or that."
Pelembe's stay at Sundowns has been a thorny issue, something he prefers not to talk about, but he opened up on what prompted him to join Wits, which even included him taking a salary cut.
"It was always frustrating when I couldn't play," Pelembe added.
"I know that we can't all play but I always wanted to play more. That's why I joined Wits. They are an ambitious team which wants to win trophies. I want to be a part of that. I will be given a fair chance to prove my worth. That's what I am looking forward too."
