Amakhosi entered this weekend's opening PSL fixture on the back of a demoralising 4-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals of the top-eight tournament at the beginning of August.
However, the Glamour Boys bounced back in style as they ran riot at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with Parker leading the assault with four goals, while debutants Kingston Nkhatha and Siyabonga Nkosi both also got on the score sheet.
"I'd say it was a perfect reaction to last week and a perfect start to the season as well," Parker said.
"It will get us more motivated and fired up for the upcoming games."
Parker went on to reveal the difference between this weekend's win and their previous defeat is the fact he and his team-mates have been able to learn from their mistakes.
He added: "Last week was a wake-up call for us. Sundowns scored from three set-pieces and one from a mistake.
"We've worked on those things the whole week and the coach made sure we would be on our toes when defending set-pieces.
"Today we kept a clean sheet, and did it well, and that is really satisfying for us.
"We look forward to continue doing that for the rest of the season."
