Palacios to face the chop?

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios was left ruing his side's missed chances against Moroka Swallows on Saturday, but accepts "full responsibility" for their 3-0 defeat.

Goals from Bennett Chenene, Katlego Mashego and Mpho Maleka saw the Dube Birds romp to three valuable points at the Orlando Stadium, leaving the Buccaneers with just four points from their opening three PSL encounters.

"I've told the players over and over again that chances win football matches and if we don't take them, we will not succeed," the coach said after the Soweto derby.

"We had many chances to beat Swallows but we wasted them. But I'm not a coach who blames his players and I must take full responsibility."

The sloppy start the new season already has some Pirates fans baying for Palacios' blood, and the tactician says he will accept whatever decision is made by the Sea Robbers board in regard to his future as head coach.

"If (the club) want to keep me, I will stay, and if they want me to go, I will go," he added.
