Palace won't sign SA star

2011-07-20 11:47

Johannesburg - Crystal Palace have revealed to the Siya crew that the English Championship side will not be signing SuperSport United defender and captain, Morgan Gould.

Gould joined the London-based club for a trial just over a week ago in an attempt to impress head coach Dougie Freedman and his technical team, and ultimately secure a contract with a European-based club.

The 28-year-old centre back had made his intentions on wanting to play his football overseas clear, and after Palace had shown an interest in his services, a dream move was on the cards.

The former Jomo Cosmos player played in two friendlies for The Eagles during his trial period in England, against Basingstoke Town FC and League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers, however did not do enough to win over a contract.

Come on Daffy, he is not a good player by any imagination. He is just an average player. Why is he looking for an overseas move at 28? Where has he been? He must stay at Supersport cause that's where he belongs. Chiefs don't need mediocre players.

Ja come on daffy or goofy or whatever - you know nothing

Morgan Gould is a good player, come on. He is better than Bongani Khumalo (and he is good), if it wasnt for injury, he would have played in the World Cup, Khumalo was behind him in the pecking order. Yes he is 28, which is why i would have wanted him to go overseas and cash in while he still can. Just coz he is 28 does not mean he cant go overseas...some players get opportunities later/earlier than others.
