PSL not ready to change the season format

Cape Town - PSL CEO Brand De Villiers says it is hard to change the PSL season format to match the CAF calendar.

De Villiers told Sport24 that there are limited number of weeks in which the league can use in a year.

"Let me tell you it's a tricky situation because it's about just half the countries which plays from January and the rest still play from August," the CEO explained.

"The other thing is that we need about 44 weeks to run the season and if we change to the January season then we can have some problems.

"We tried to plan for that last season but it didn't work out, hence we will stick to the current season."

The current PSL calendar runs from August and ends in May the following year.
