PSL is Chiefs' 'priority'

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic admits that the Premier Soccer League is his priority this season ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final clash with Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on Sunday.

The Serbian-born coach, who is in his third term with Amakhosi, has led his side to two third place finishes; only missing out on the title behind Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town by one point in the previously completed campaign.

Vermezovic, who has also never won the MTN8, says his side is ready for the challenge of Wits - and despite losing the talents of Valery Nahayo and Knowledge Musona, is confident his new signings more than make up for the loss.

He told the club's official website: "I am completely satisfied with the preseason and we raring to go on Sunday.

"It should be an entertaining game as both sides always want to play.

"I feel that with the players we have brought in like Brent Lawler, Tefu Mashamaite, Major (Lehlohonolo Majoro) and others we have a competitive team to challenge strongly for honours this season.

"We have our own objective as the team. We will play hard for each game be it the tournament or league. The league remain our priority going to the 2011/2012 season.

Vermezovic will be without Lucky Khune, however, after the player picked up an ankle injury against Orlando Pirates on Saturday. Team Physio Dave Milner revealed: "It is not a bad injury and we expect Lucky to be back at training in a week or two."

Meanwhile, George Lebese and Reneilwe Letsholonyane are continuing to recover from the knee injuries they sustained against Orlando Pirates in the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup.

Wits coach Roger De Sa is equally optimistic ahead of the tie as he told the club's new official website: "It's our first competitive match so we are all looking forward to it. The preparations have gone pretty well and the guys are enthusiastic and being a part of pre-season the guys are going to have a full go."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
