Cape Town - PSL CEO Brand de Villiers has denied knowledge of a deal between AmaZulu and Mpumalanga Black Aces over the acquisition of PSL rights ahead of the 2015/16 league season.
AmaZulu were relegated from the PSL at the end of the 2014/15 PSL season, but media reports this week have suggested that the Durban club bought their way back into the league in purchasing the PSL rights from Aces in a mega-money deal.
But any such deal would need to be passed by the PSL and its executive committee, and De Villiers confirmed to Sport24 on Wednesday that this had not happened.
"I don’t know about the deal. The league hasn’t been requested to consider any transactions," De Villiers told Sport24.
With the league due to kick off in early August, De Villiers was not sure whether or not there was enough time to get the potential deal completed before then.
"It depends. If a club approaches the league and wants to sell its shareholding or its ownership they have to comply with the constitution of the league," he said.
"All of the relevant documentation needs to ensure that they comply to that article. It may take three weeks to submit it and then three weeks plus to investigate the matter ... there are various things.
"According to the league there is no transaction."
