Cape Town - A look at the current PSL table makes for some worrying reading if you're a supporter of one of the Soweto giants.
Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs are down in 6th place while Orlando Pirates - who triumphed 3-1 in the derby this past weekend - are in 12th.
There is still a long way to go and not quite enough reason to panic, but for now it is Cavin Johnson's Platinum Stars who occupy top spot.
And a look at the form charts helps explain why.
The Rustenburg-based side have accumulated more points over their last five matches than any other side in the league, with four wins and a draw giving them an impressive 13 points out of a possible 15.
Bidvest Wits and Free State Stars are next best with 11 points (three wins, two draws) from their last five.
That achievement is particularly impressive in the case of Free State, who were languishing near the foot of the table when Ernst Middendorp took charge in early September.
The German tactician is undefeated since taking over and he has guided the franchise away from the relegation.
Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, have amassed nine points from a possible 15 while Pirates have just five.
There are PSL fixtures on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
