PSL, Numsa reach agreement

Johannesburg - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has agreed to postpone Sunday's match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs by one hour to accommodate a request from the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa).

"The fixture has been delayed in agreement with the union and the teams concerned," PSL chief operating officer Professor Ronnie Schloss said on Friday.

"A compromise was reached in agreement with the league and all parties concerned."

The match between title contenders Sundowns and Chiefs was initially scheduled for 15:00 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. It would now be played at 16:00, the PSL confirmed.

Numsa applauded the PSL for delaying the game, which would allow soccer fans to attend May Day celebrations organised by the Congress of SA Trade Unions earlier in the day.

"This decision by all the affected parties is a reflection of sober and cool-headed leadership at the helm of our domestic league," Numsa said in a statement.

"This decision further affirms that soccer in our country belongs to the workers."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
