Johannesburg - The Premier Soccer League's prosecutor Zola Majavu says Hristo Stoichkov could face disciplinary action even if he leaves South Africa.
Stoichkov faces a charge of misconduct by the PSL for allegedly using abusive language towards match commissioner Adeel Carelse during a PSL clash between Sundowns and Moroka Swallows on February 19 at Super Stadium.
The Bulgarian also faces another charge for allegedly sliding his finger across his throat in a suggestive manner towards a league official.
However, Stoichkov's shock resignation as Sundowns coach has created some doubt over proceedings as he might leave the country.
Adding to the uncertainty, his case has already been postponed twice. The first time was on 1 March with Stoichkov demanding that a translator and his lawyers, who are based overseas, be present.
The second occasion was this past Monday when he sent in a doctor's note claiming to be sick.
Majavu, however, insists the league can still initiate sanctions on Stoichkov should he inexcusably fail to attend the next hearing on Tuesday.
He told
Football365.co.za: "The fact that at the time when the offence was committed he was still an employee of my member (Sundowns) means I can still go after my member. Let me give you an example; if a policeman does wrong to you, you can sue either the policeman or the minister of police.
"If that policeman resigns, it doesn't mean that's the end of your case, simply because he has resigned.
"Say he (Stoichkov) were to disappear, as long as he wants to work in football, we can still approach FIFA to ban him worldwide until he makes good.
"I'm not worried about it".
