Cape Town - Chippa United defender James Okwuosa believes new signing Edward
Manqele could fill the void that will be left by David Zulu should the
striker join Kaizer Chiefs.
The Nigeria international has watched on as the marksman's stock has risen since his arrival at the Port Elizabeth-based outfit from Black Leopards at the beginning of the season.
In just five months, Zulu has moved up from the National First Division's top scorer to a Bafana Bafana squad member. The hype around Zulu reached boiling point when he scored a solo effort which sealed a surprise victory for Chippa against Orlando Pirates.
Okwuosa is confident that the striker will succeed at the Soweto giants, but is also convinced that the Chilli Boys have the players to replace him.
"(With Zulu leaving) I don't think it will affect us you know with the signing we made now (Edward Manqele). He is a good player too," the Super Eagles centre-back told Goal.
"I think there will be some good competition once Andile (Mbenyane) is back, so I don't see any issues for us. We have a lot of attackers in the team; there's a lot of competition going on.
"I don't think it's going to be easy for him (Zulu) at Chiefs. You know Chiefs have so many talented players and so many experienced players that can play.
"But I know Zulu is a good player, he's the kind of attacker that can hold the ball, he wants to play and he's very energetic too, and I think he will make it at Chiefs," he added.
