Okwi: No Chiefs contact

Cape Town - Uganda international Emmanuel Okwi has refuted reports claiming that he is currently being lined up for a January switch to Kaizer Chiefs.

The 21-year-old, who recently rejoined Simba SC from Young Africans, insists he has not received any contact from the South African giants.

However, he did admit it was flattering to be linked with Amakhosi and did not rule out the possibility of making the switch to the Absa Premiership.

"That is not true because my agent has not notified me of any contact,” commenting on the recent reports, Okwi told African Football.

"But it's a good feeling to hear news coming from South Africa that Kaizer Chiefs have interest in my services."

Okwi, who also counts SC Villa and Étoile du Sahel amongst his former clubs, was recently recalled to the Uganda squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash with Togo.
