Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza believes former coach Vladimir Vermezovic failed at the club as his tactics were too complex for the players to comprehend.
'VV' resigned in the middle of last season after a poor string of results, which to a large extent were also affected by the death of captain Senzo Meyiwa.
Vermezovic's replacement, Eric Tinkler, has done a better job of winning the hearts of the Buccaneers fans, and has a clearer understanding with the squad, according to Nyauza.
"The thing with ‘VV' is that we couldn't perfect his tactics," Nyauza told Soccer Laduma.
"His tactics were right, but we couldn't perfect them as he wanted them to be. Sometimes he would come with a strategy, but it ended up as a waste because, as the players, we didn't understand. We then took time to gel with that strategy.
"Otherwise he's a very good coach. His coaching skills are excellent. It's just that sometimes players take time to adapt to a certain style of play."
