Nyathi: Chiefs will improve

Cape Town - Former South Africa international David Nyathi thinks that Kaizer Chiefs are likely to get stronger as this Premiership campaign progresses.

Nyathi, who actually used to play for Chiefs, said the current squad will benefit tremendously from the experiences of those who competed in the Africa Cup of Nations this month.

"It will definitely be a boost for Chiefs,” Nyathi told SAPA.

"The players will have learned from playing against their peers on the continent.

“The experience will be invaluable and they can only get better from it."

During the Africa Cup of Nations, South African clubs have been involved in several friendly matches but those with players in the national team are likely to possess a squad that is more match fit when the league resumes.

"Besides the extra game-time, because the players were actively involved in the tournament they will be able to add value to the club when they compete in the Champions League."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
