The 25-year-old, who joined Bafana Bastyle from Premiership rivals Free State Stars in the off-season, has found his first-team chances limited under manager Pitso Mosimane this season.
And it appears Nomandela is seeking a move away from Chloorkop in the January transfer window in a bid to get his career back on track.
The player's agent, Tim Sukazi, clarified his client's position in an interview with Soccer Laduma.
He said: "Yes, as we speak now, the player has made a request to the team officials, maybe for a loan move.
"I will, however, be meeting with Sundowns to see how best we can solve this problem.
"It's in the best interest of the player to have game-time. We all know that Nomandela is a quality player, but he is playing against other top players at Sundowns and it doesn't help his career.
"Football is about playing and he has to play, so I will be engaging with Sundowns and I see the reason why Sundowns would refuse to give Nomandela the chance to play while at the same time preparing him for their first team.
“For now it seems he doesn't get that at Sundowns."
