No sentimentality for Igesund

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund revealed he will not be taking it easy on his former assistant Serame Letsoaka when they meet in the Telkom Knockout.

Matsatsantsa were drawn against Letsoaka's Golden Arrows in the quarter-final of the domestic Cup competition, and while Igesund wished his former protégé well for the season ahead, he excluded their Cup tie from that.

"Yes we know each other. I wish all the best for him at Arrows, but not in the game against us in the Telkom," Igesund told Soccer Laduma.

"I won't be thinking of friendship at that time because everyone wants a win. Serame knows that and I know that.

"What we need to do is play a beautiful game and win on the day, but we will still be friends after the game," the former Bafana Bafana coach concluded.

SuperSport are the defending champions of the competition and advanced to the quarter-finals by beating Polokwane City, while newly promoted Arrows provided perhaps the shock of the first round by overcoming MTN8 champions Ajax Cape Town.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
