Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela admits that there was nothing his side could do to stop the momentum of the University of Pretoria.

An early goal for Atusaye Nyondo saw AmaTuks to victory in their Absa Premiership match at the Tuks Stadium.

The hosts had to play over an hour of the match with 10 men following the expulsion of Vuyisile Ntombayithethi.

According to KickOff, Komphela said that Rise and Shine had no chance to get anything out of the game with Tuks being in a “purple patch”.

“People must take heed that when you face a team in a purple patch there is nothing that you can do,” said Komphela.

“There's no way you can have a one-man advantage almost the whole match and not afford to win it.

“Forget the chances you create, one man up with all the time available, you just have to accept there is nothing you can do.”

The result sees Tuks move up to seventh on the Premiership log with 29 points, while United remain in 10th on 24 points.
