No retirement for Masilela

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Tshepo Masilela, who last featured for Bafana Bafana last year and who has been excluded from the squad that will do duty this month in the final two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, says he has no intention of calling time on his international career.

Masilela has given new Bafana boss Shakes Mashaba his backing, and believes that the new blend of youth and experience is the right direction for the team.

The 29-year-old says he is definitely looking to add to the 51 appearances he has made for his country, but knows this may be difficult given the new direction the team is heading in.

"The coach came in with new intentions," Masilela told Football411 website. "His intention was to introduce the younger players into the setup and so far, so good.

"I mean the coach and the younger team is doing well, he is doing a great job and we need not to ask why so and so is not there.

"The team is winning and everybody is happy. For me I’m happy to just to sit back, support the team and focus on my performances for Kaizer Chiefs.

"I believe that I had my chance and it is time for a new era. Players retire, some get called and some don’t, with time that happens and it is a part of football."

When asked if he was considering international retirement Masilela added: "Obviously not. If I receive the call up than I would honour it, regardless of how many times one has pulled on the national team jersey, it always an honour to represent your country."
