Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune is delighted to be back in training without the moonboot on his right foot following an ankle injury which has kept him out of action for the past two months.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper confirmed to Sport24 in an exclusive interview that he is no longer feeling the pain on his ankle despite only removing the moonboot last weekend.
'Spider kid' further hinted that although he is ready to return to the sticks, he is still under supervision from the Amakhosi physiotherapists until he reaches full fitness.
"I had my first full training without a moonboot on my own on Sunday," Khune told Sport24.
"I am much closer to my return and I even took a long walk without the moonboot on Sunday.
"I never felt any pain at all but I still have to follow the procedure because am still on a specified training methods and this week I will be training with the rest of the team."
Chiefs’ next outing will be against AmaZulu in the PSL at the Moses Mabhida stadium on Wednesday night.
Kick-off is at 19:30
