Nkhatha boost for Chiefs

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs have been handed a big boost ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday with the news Kingston Nkhatha's injury is not as bad as first feared.

According to the Football411 website, the Zimbabwe international suffered a blow to his leg during Saturday's Carling Black Label Cup defeat to Orlando Pirates, with initial reports claiming he could be facing several weeks on the sidelines.

However, the Amakhosi medical staff have since evaluated the injury, with the news looking promising for the burly forward ahead of this weekend's Wafa Wafa opener.

"Kingston got a knock to the side of his leg. It was nothing much, but a ‘dead’ leg. He should recover fairly quickly. He should be available for the Sunday encounter against MP Black Aces in the MTN8 quarter-final," read a statement on Chiefs' official website.

Another fitness boost for the Glamour Boys is the news Siphiwe Tshabalala's recovery is coming along well, although this weekend's last-eight tie comes too soon for the Bafana Bafana international.

"‘Shabba’ is improving nicely after he injured his knee in a friendly game against Chippa United in the previous week," the statement continued.
