Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs striker Nkosinathi Nhleko believes the competition for places at the Soweto club is "healthy".
The former Thanda Royal Zulu man is vying for a spot in the Amakhosi starting line-up ahead of their opening PSL encounter against Golden Arrows at the weekend.
The 31-year-old faces stiff competition from the likes of Kaizer Motaung Jnr, Jose Torrealba, Knowledge Musona, Lucky Khune and Sthembiso Ngcobo for a first team spot.
However, he feels the contest amongst all the players will turn him into a better player.
He told Football365.co.za: "The competition is healthy and that is why the club has brought in good strikers because we want to win things.
"The more we compete for places, the more we will improve and become the best. We have one goal - to win things."
Vladimir Vermezovic's charges have not won a league title since the 2004-2005 season and Nhelko knows they will have to overcome PSL giants like SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates if they are to scoop honours.
He continued: "We are looking to win the PSL title as well and it isn't going to be easy, it is going to be a difficult challenge.
"But we are ready and of course if you want to be the best you have to beat the best and of course now we looking forward to the season."
The former Jomo Cosmos player is looking to find the back of the net at every possible chance for Chiefs this term.
"I have set myself a goal target, but I want to keep it to myself because it is easy to talk, but when it is time to do those things it won't be easy.
"I have to work very hard to achieve this. Chiefs have quality strikers as well, so I have a mountain to climb," he concluded.
