“It is a stellar achievement for the City. This is the first time that a Premier Soccer League domestic cup final will be played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium following its construction and completion in 2009,” said Chantal Du Pisani, CEO of Access Management, operator of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“It is important to acknowledge that the City would not have been able to secure one of the leading events on the national soccer calendar without a resident soccer team and the support of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality” she said.

Brand De Villiers, PSL CEO said:  “We are pleased to announce the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro as the hosts for the 2014/15 Nedbank Cup final.

“In the final we have two clubs that have displayed quality football from day one of this season’s tournament,” he said.

“We would like to congratulate Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns for reaching the final.”

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will welcome Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns for Nedbank Cup final next month.

The Nedbank Cup final will be played on Saturday afternoon, May 16, and kick-off is at 15:00.
