Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane will not be taking Thanda Royal Zulu lightly in their Nedbank Cup round of 32 clash on Saturday.

Read: We can still win the PSL

Mosimane is a big fan of the Ke Yona tournament for a number of reasons, not least of which is that it is an avenue to qualify for continental competition.

"For me the Nedbank Cup is important. It is an important cup for us," Mosimane told KickOff.

"It takes you to Africa... it's an international cup. It's not only domestic cup but also takes you to the CAF Confederation Cup.

"You have seen big teams like Al Ahly who have won the CAF Champions League more than any other team in the continent, and how they celebrated after winning the Confederation Cup final against Coton Sport.

Mosimane is well aware of Thanda Royal Zulu's performance against Orlando Pirates in this competition last year, and has warned his players not to take the National First Division side lightly.

"They are a good team. They are a top-five team in the NFD and they have a reputation after taking Pirates into extra-time last season," the coach concluded.
