Ncikazi: There is room for improvement

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Mandla Ncikazi stressed on how tough the game was against Ajax Cape Town over the weekend but said it was expected.

Ncikazi told the media at the press conference that a lot of matches haven’t gone their way but he cannot make excuses as a coach because that will lead to an early exit out of the PSL.

The Team of Choice mentor said he still has a lot of faith in his team and knows they will improve because it’s still early in the season as there is always room for improvement.

“We were playing against Ajax and we expected it to be tough, they are a very strong team,” he said at the press conference after the game.

“A lot hasn’t gone away in the recent matches but as a coach you can’t be making excuses because that is when you will be close to exiting and you always try to avoid that by any cost.

“I don’t want to make any excuses as a coach really because I have a lot of faith in my team and with luck and constant hard work we will succeed.

“I am very pleased with the amount of work my players are putting in and we can only hope for the best.

“There is no easy team out there, each team will always bring its own challenges but its how we take on every match that’s important.

“It’s still early in the season and that means there is room for improvement.”

The Team of Choice played to a 1-3 loss against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday, August 22 at Cape Town Stadium.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
