Cape Town - Mandla Ncikazi has spoken out about his appointment as the new coach of Maritzburg United and filling in the big shoes of former coach, Steve Komphela.
Ncikazi shows that he is ready for the challenge that lies ahead of him and still remains humble despite this huge achievement.
"When I was first told about it, I was extremely excited, but I had to cut my joy very short because when you sit down and look at the task in front of you,” he told the PSL website.
"It’s a big one because pre-season had already started. So it was a very proud moment and that was my initial reaction.
"It's a really rare opportunity to be given to assistant coaches. Normally a club prefers someone from outside.
"It doesn’t often happen that someone from within gets such a job because we have a lot of challenges.
"We share the same vision and philosophy, so not much is going to change. But obviously I'm not going to try to be like Steve. If I do so, I will be setting myself up for failure,” he concluded.
Ncikazi’s side is currently in Johannesburg undergoing pre-season preparations. They lost to Orlando Pirates 2-1 in a training game on Monday.
