Mweene rules out 'Downs exit

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene, has denied reports that he is set to leave the club this off-season.

The Zambia international has been linked with a move away, having found himself behind Denis Onyango in the pecking order at the Pretoria outfit.

However, Mweene has rejected these claims and is determined to win back the number one spot for the Brazilians next season.

“First of all, those reports are untrue,” Mweene told goal.com.

“Secondly, I still have a contract that I wish to honour with Mamelodi Sundowns, and thirdly, it was reported that I sent a letter to the club asking them [club] to release me, and that is untrue because I was still on holiday in Zambia when those reports emerged. So, nobody spoke to me about it."

“I reiterate that I am still going to be with Sundowns even next season.”
