Mugeyi joins AmaZulu

Johannesburg - League strugglers AmaZulu have appointed Wilfred Mugeyi as assistant to head coach Craig Rosslee.

Mugeyi was the fifth coach to be sacked by log-bottom rookies Chippa United this season when he was replaced by Englishman Mark Harrison last week.

"We're pleased to announce that Wilfred Mugeyi has been appointed as the assistant coach at AmaZulu on a two-year contract," the club's general manager, Peter O’Connor, said on Wednesday.

"He will start immediately with his new duties under the head coach, Craig Rosslee."

Mugeyi would be at Wednesday night's league match against Bloemfontein Celtic in Durban, according to O'Connor, but would not be based in the technical area until their following fixture.

The 43-year-old former Zimbabwe international previously served as Rosslee's assistant at Ajax Cape Town between 2007 and 2009.

AmaZulu were 13th in the Absa Premiership standings, just two points above the relegation zone, ahead of their midweek clash against Celtic.
