Mthembu: I have to keep on working hard

Cape Town - Siphelele Mthembu reveals that it is sad that as strikers they have not been coming to the party as far as scoring goals is concerned.

Kaizer Chiefs strikers have been criticised for failing to score goals in most of the games they play but Mthembu admits that he is working hard on to improve on that feat.

Mthembu scored just one goal for Chiefs last season in the PSL from 16 appearances, albeit that 15 of those were from off the bench

Before joining Chiefs from Platinum Stars, Mthembu scored just thirteen goals in all competitions in two seasons for Dikwena.

"As a striker it's my duty to score goals,” the former Orlando Pirates striker told Sport24.

"I have to keep on working hard to help the team win games by scoring goals.

"The coach has been working with us as strikers and if you look at what we do at training, then you can see that we are working very hard on improving our scoring techniques and tactics.

"Soon we will start scoring goals."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
