Mphela on the mend at Chiefs

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs striker, Katlego Mphela, is making progress on his return to full fitness. The Amakhosi confirmed earlier this week that the 29-year-old has started running, after recovering from an injury.

According to the soccerladuma website, Mphela has been out with a foot injury he picked up against Platinum Stars in August, during the game he came on as a second half substitute for Siphelele Mthembu.

That game at the FNB Stadium was the first for Mphela in the 2014/15 season. The player was unfortunate with the injury he picked up, as he looked on-course to impressing Stuart Baxter for more appearances in a Chiefs shirt, after scoring one of the goals on the day in their impressive 3-0 win over Dikwena.

News reaching the Siya crew is that the player has started with ball work for the first time in months and looking increasingly nearing a return to full recovery.

‘Killer’ will relish the opportunity to increase Chiefs’ goal scoring chances, while competing with the team’s other top strikers, including Kingston Nkhatha, Bernard Parker, Matthew Rusike and 'Shaka Zulu' when he is fully fit for competitive football.
