Mphela lacking full fitness

Cape Town - Royal Eagles coach Vladislav Heric admits that new striker Katlego Mphela is far from fit for first-team action.

The National First Division side signed the former Bafana Bafana marksman as a free agent after Kaizer Chiefs dumped him two months ago.

Eagles also captured former Premiership stars Dominic Isaacs and Khethokwakhe Masuku as they look to improve their promotion bid this term.

Heric hopes Mphela can win the race for fitness before their league clash against AmaZulu on September 9 after falling to Cape Town All Stars with a 1-0 loss at the weekend.

When asked how far away Mphela was from making an impact, Heric told KickOff: "Very far, especially Katlego Mphela with reasonable fitness but our fitness trainer Michael Kemp is busy assessing him.

"They all got the test Friday and from that test we will assess the physical condition of the players, try to improve to get them ready as soon as possible.

"I believe they will be ready against AmaZulu after the FIFA break which I hope we will get three points there."
