Mphela eyes Mbesuma record

Johannesburg - Katlego Mphela believes he could match Collins Mbesuma's record haul of 25 goals scored in a single Premiership season.

Mbesuma set the mark in 2004/5 when at Kaizer Chiefs while Mphela has already notched up 15 goals in 21 matches in the current campaign.

The South African international will have to find the back of the net 10 times in Sundowns' nine remaining fixtures to match Mbesuma and although this is a tall order, 'Killer' reckons it is conceivable that he achieves this feat.

"Twenty five goals is not impossible," Mphela told Football365.co.za.

"Not that 25 is my target. Personally, I have not set any target for myself. I just told myself that I have to score as much as possible whenever I get a chance. The only thing I need is to score at least 20, but I know very well I can score a lot more than that."

The Brazilians' next match is against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon.
