Mphela: I still have the hunger

Cape Town - Katlego 'Killer' Mphela, who signed this week for Royal Eagles, says he still has a hunger to do well in the game.

The former Bafana Bafana striker joined the National First Division side, who he says are working on getting promoted to the PSL next season.

Mphela, who was released by Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season, tells Sport24 that he is looking forward to help the team score goals and gain promotion.

"First and foremost I have to thank the directors and owners of Royal Eagles who have shown their trust and belief in me," the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker said.

"I am still hungry to do well and I will work hard to help the team in their goals of fighting for promotion to the PSL this season

"As a team we will fight hard and help each other for the good of the team.”

It was not that long ago that Mphela was the first-choice striker for Bafana, however a string of injuries halted his international career.

Mphela opted to leave Sundowns at the end of 2013/2014 season, having spent the second half of the season on loan at Chiefs, and signed a one-year deal with the Amakhosi.

However, things did not go as planned at Naturena.

The striker scored three goals in 11 appearances during his loan period and featured in just four PSL games last season but failed to score any league goals.
