Cape Town Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, said that though there were many CVs received from over 20 coaches for the vacant post, Steve Komphela was the best.

Motaung told Sport24 that they had to look at the history and progress of the club before they made the decision.
"There were about 25 or 30 CVs which we received from coaches all over the world," Motaung explained.
"Some coaches even sent in two or three CVs but we had to settle for the best, and Steve Komphela was the best.
"He has all the qualities we wanted in a coach. He knows the team very well as he is a former player.
"He knows most of the players in the team and it will be easy for him to adapt to the team and that's why we settled for him."
Komphela penned a three-year contract with Chiefs.
