Tebogo Langerman had put the Brazilians ahead in the first half at Loftus Versfeld only for Geoffrey Massa to fire home an equaliser for AmaTuks with 18 minutes remaining to force extra-time.
However, Elias Pelembe restored the Tshwane giants' lead on 97 minutes and they were able to see out the win to earn a place in the quarter-finals.
Mosimane felt plenty of credit was due to Steve Barker's men for pushing the PSL champions all the way.
"It was not easy; we earned it," said Mosimane.
"I said before, that it was going to be like this and it came exactly the way I said.
"We earned it, and no one gave it to us. It was a cup game; it has its own emotions and its own tempers.
“You look at the guys in the dressing room – people are battered and people are bruised. It’s like they come from a battle; they came with wounds and all that.
"We played a strong team – a good team with integrity and so we earned it."
