Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is relishing taking on National First Division side Vasco da Gama in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

‘Downs booked their place in the final four of the competition after recording a 2-0 victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday, while the other semi-final will be contested between SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town.

Mosimane is pleased to have avoided the likes of SuperSport and Ajax in the semi-finals, but is wary of overconfidence nonetheless.

"To be honest, it is a better draw than any other that could have come our way based on the form of both SuperSport and Ajax," Mosimane was quoted as saying by Sowetan Live.

"We have been coming up against Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates in previous matches in the cup and not been able to go through.

"We've come across some big ones and not been able to get past. We should not disrespect Vasco because they are there [in the semi-finals] for a reason.

"They went to Black Leopards and beat them in Thohoyandou. That tells you they are good."

He added: "It is important to get a cup at the end of the season. Our people deserve better.

"Sundowns should be winning a cup every year, it is not enough to say we are taking it a step at a time. So really, I think it is our time now."
