Moriri: We must deliver title

Johannesburg - Suprise Moriri has revealed Mamelodi Sundowns are hurting after the derby defeat to SuperSport United.

The result had major implications on the title race, because it saw the Brazilians fall from top spot in the Premiership standings for the first time since September last year.

Moriri, a veteran of the Chloorkop outfit's championship triumphs in the 2000s, told the club's official website that they have reflected on the reverse to Matsatsants and have now realised they have to focus on returning to winnings ways.

"The players are doing a lot of soul searching and we know we have to deliver this championship to Chloorkop," Moriri said.

"We spoke as players after training on Monday and some harsh words were said but we needed that to come from us. One thing that will not help is to focus on what could have been as it will be counterproductive, we have to go out there and win our next game against Platinum Stars."

The Bafana Bafana attacker, however, has warned his former employers that Sundowns are gunning for all three points as they look to improve on a poor recent record that has seen them win just one of their last five matches.

"I appreciate what Stars did for my career and they will always have a special place in my heart but come Sunday they can expect very little favours from this side," Moriri said.

"The log leaders are still within our grasp - we have to win and return to the top and stay there until the end of the season. Most of all we have to win this game for our supporters at all costs."
