Modise targets TKO glory

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise says the squad is brimming with confidence and believes they are now favorites to lift the Telkom Knockout trophy.

Following their 6-1 demolition of Free State Stars on Saturday, the 32-year old playmaker credited his teammates for their teamwork and understanding of Pitso Mosimane's instructions.

"We played according to the plan given by the coach," Modise said.

"There was a great deal of understanding from both the players and the coach on what needed to be done at the end of the day.

"What is impressive is the fighting spirit that the lads showed out there. We clearly wanted the game more than Stars did.

"It is a good result and it puts us in a position closer to the final. If we continue playing this well then we can challenge for the trophy when the time comes"

Modise joined the Brazilians in January 2011 from Orlando Pirates and has netted 22 goals in 125 league appearances.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
