According to KickOff, Modise says that there was no need to justify Schut’s place in the team as it was evident how important he was to Sundowns.

“Personally I am happy and grateful that I had the opportunity to be led by him,” said Modise.

“He helped me win my first trophy in the PSL and I will always be grateful for that.

“I want to thank him for what has done in my career. I want to thank him for what has done for Mamelodi Sundowns. We will try to do our best in his absence. We learnt a lot how he carried himself both on and off the field.”

Schut is set to return to Netherlands where where he intends to carry on playing professional football, but with a view to eventually earning his UEFA licences and taking up a role as technical director.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
