Modise: Not over yet

Johannesburg -  Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise says there is still a long way to go before the league title is decided.

The Buccaneers missed a glorious opportunity to close the gap on leaders SuperSport United after being held to a 1-1 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic at Vodacom Park on Sunday.

Modise, who scored his side’s goal, admits they slipped up, but adds that they are still in with a good chance of overhauling SuperSport, who they face on May 6.

“We know it will be hard, but we will continue to fight hard until the last game of the season,” he said. “We have to take all the remaining games as cup finals now. We have to win them all and, who knows … SuperSport may have problems somewhere, somehow.

“Remember, we also have to play them and that game could be the decider.”

Apart from SuperSport United, Pirates also have a game against archrivals Kaizer Chiefs slated for May. Before that though, they have to negotiate a tricky game against Gordon Igesund’s Maritzburg United.

“We have to start on Wednesday if we want to accomplish our mission. We have to win both home and away. We want this League title. We have fought very hard to be where we are now. We can’t fail now.”
