Modise: Bafana axe is fair

2011-02-01 07:52

Johannesburg - Teko Modise says it will be "fair" if Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane drops him from the squad to play Burkina Faso.

South Africa will tackle the Stallions from west Africa on February 9 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium and the new Mamelodi Sundowns signing believes the coach will have every season to omit him.

Mosimane told the City Press in a recent article: "I won't compromise the team with players who are not playing."

And Modise, who started a mere six matches in all competitions for Orlando Pirates this season before joining Sundowns on Friday is understanding.

He told this website: "I haven't spoken to the coach (Mosimane), not yet.

"I mean with all that has been happening with the move it is understandable why we haven't spoken lately.

"I think it will be very fair if he doesn't select me. You can see I haven't been playing and I have been in the papers for the wrong reasons (suspension by Pirates). I want to see myself playing football," concluded Modise.

Mosimane will announce the squad for the encounter on Thursday. The clash serves as preparation for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt in March.

He's basically telling the coach what to do. I mean, it was never fair the previous time as well.....anyway, all the best to him.

      traedani - 2011-02-01 13:23

Because he's special sir....just like murihno....maybe always in the media but he doesn't run to them they run to him...Khune and Shaba's lives are too boring for the Media....

      seeps.mazi - 2011-02-01 16:04

Who is Murihno??? Idiot......... you are actually annoying Traedani as your comments are mindless and not relevent. Do you live with Shabba or Khune? Ryan Giggs is the most celebrated footballer in the world and he has never had any negative press in a career which spans 20 years and 23 major medals.... the problem with us blacks is we enjoy people 'flossing'when we should appreciate more humble people

      Lucas - 2011-02-03 09:24

Nobody stays on form during their whole career. Give the guy a break. Theres still some football left in him. You critics always think u know better

  • Zukisani - 2011-02-01 18:12

goodness ! i'm an orlando pirates fan and I'm dissapointed by modise's sudden departure ,but you dont see me judging the guy , he is talented and has done more for the national team than tshabalala and he started playing for bafana after shabba did ,but look at him , tshabalala is better than modise currently yes i will never debate that,

  • Mxhuma - 2011-02-01 23:00

If/when the media people aproach Teko for a comment, he must say 'NO COMMENT'.Then no one will write anything about him. Why must there be an article about him all the time. Please Teko focus on regaining your futbol, please.
