Pietermaritzburg - Ernst Middendorp has resigned as coach of Maritzburg United, the soccer club said on Thursday.
Middendorp is the third Premier Soccer League coach to part ways with his club in a week.
On Saturday Manqoba Mngqithi left Golden Arrows, and on Monday Clinton Larsen parted ways with Bloemfontein Celtic.
Middendorp ended his tenure with the club after leading the side to two wins, two draws, and two losses in the league this season.
"His agent Steven Kapeluschnik confirmed that after spending altogether nearly three-and-a-half years at the club, and being in charge of the team for approximately 100 games, he has decided that it is time for him to move on and look for new challenges in his career," the club said in a statement.
Middendorp thanked the club for his time in charge.
"I have enjoyed my time with the club and I wish them all the best in the future," he said in a statement.
