Cape Town - Ernst Middendorp has agreed contract terms to become the new Free State Stars coach according to his agent, Steve Kapeluschnik.
With Kinnah Phiri having been axed last week after starting the season with three losses, the Germany-born tactician was reported to be the favoured candidate to take over the reins.
Middendorp is no stranger to South African football, having previously coached Kazier Chiefs, Bloemfontein Celtic and more recently Chippa United.
"We met with the Chairman and General Manager of the club this week, Ernst went down to Bethlehem to check out the facilities and he was happy with what he saw. Paperwork has been drafted and everything is basically done," Kapeluschnik told Soccer Laduma.
"I was in Europe for a few weeks watching football and having some meetings. I was surprised when I was contacted in relation to the Free State Stars position.
"However, after meeting the chairman I got a good feeling and I am very excited about this new challenge."
