Cape Town - Chippa United have released a statement confirming the appointment of Ernst Middendorp as coach.
“Port Elizabeth-based Chippa United confirms the appointment of German-born Ernst Middendorp as head coach with immediate effect.
The 56-year-old Middendorp has agreed to a six-months contract with Chippa United with an option to renew at the end of the 2014-2015 Absa Premiership season.
Middendorp brings in a wealth of experience after having coached Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs.
Middendorp will start his new job as Chippa United coach on Monday, 5 January 2015 where he will be introduced to the players.
Middendorp will have almost a month to instill his own style at Chippa United.
Chilli Boys’ first match of the second round is against University of Pretoria away at Tuks Stadium on 10 February before lacing up against Maritzburg United at home at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium where Middendorp will face his former club.
The Chilli boys chairman said they would not like to disappoint Eastern Cape people who have been rallying behind Chippa United.
The Chilli Boys will play some of their home matches at the buffalo park Stadium in East London as part of their drive to confirm their loyalty to Eastern Cape people who have not disappointed in supporting the club through thick and thin.
The Chairman would like to thank Roger Sikhakhane for all the hard work he has contributed to the success of the club.”
