Mhlongo, Dikwena part ways

Rustenburg - Platinum Stars football manager Senzo Mazingiza has confirmed that the veteran defender, Benson Mhlongo has parted ways with the North West tycoons following the club's decision not to renew his contract.

The hard working Alexander-born player’s contract is set to elapse at the end of June having joined Dikwena from Orlando Pirates in July 2012 on a two-year deal.

Mazingiza confirmed the news to Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Friday, but remained mum on the finer details regarding the 33-year-old’s departure.

"Its official Benson (Mhlongo) won’t be with us next season," said Mazingiza.

"It’s just like in any team and with every player.

"There is a time when players’ contracts reach the expiry dates.

"We can sit down with the player to talk about a way forward and you find that a relationship between the two parties had come to an end.

"That was the case between Platinum Stars and Benson Mhlongo.

"We wish him well in his future endeavours," he added.

'Mayanga' played a tremendous role in helping Stars clinch the cup double this past season.

Dikwena won the MTN8 competition and the Telkom Knockout cup at the early stages of the season, defeating Pirates in both finals respectively.
