Mere to miss Chiefs clash

Johannesburg - Platinum Stars look set to be without captain Vuyo Mere for Tuesday night’s clash with runaway leaders Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane.

The Soccer Laduma website on Tuesday afternoon quoted an un-named source from within the Dikwena camp saying that the vastly experienced right-back would not make it for the clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

"Vuyo is injured. He is definitely out for the game against Chiefs tonight. It is a big blow to the team, but we are confident that he will make progress.

"We will see what the progress he would have made by the time we play (Bidvest) Wits in the next game after tonight (on December 14), and we’ll take it from there," said the source.

Mere will certainly be missed by Allan Freese’s Stars side, not only for his defensive duties and his motivation as a captain, but also for his prowess at free-kicks and corners.
