Mere: We want a great season

Cape Town - Platinum Stars, who struggled to avoid relegation last season, start their new Absa Premiership season at home against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Captain and defender Vuyo Mere told Sport24 that they want to have a "great season" and want to start on a high note by winning.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender said they are aware of what dangers the Brazilians possess, but they are ready for anything.

"All the teams are starting afresh right now and we are all on the same level at this time," the former Bafana Bafana defender explained.

“We want to win this game and start the season on a high note.

“I think just like every year this season will be tough for all the teams but for us we want to have a good season by starting well no matter who we play.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
