Johannesburg - New SuperSport United right-back Sifiso Mbhele admits his ambition
is to play for Bafana Bafana, after joining the club from Baroka FC.
The 23-year-old defender came through a series of trials at the
club and is relishing his first season in the Premier Soccer League.
After admitting his side were unlucky to have lost out to Black
Leopards in the Nedbank Cup and ultimately failing to secure promotion
via the Vodacom League national play-offs, Mbhele says he is focused on
making an impression for his new side.
He told the club's official website: "I think I was lucky after
being selected from a bunch of trialists who came to try their luck.
It's exciting. This showed that my commitment at Baroka did not go
unnoticed.
"I'm prepared to work very hard and contribute immensely and help
the team win the league again. United is a professional team and I
enjoy every moment with my new team-mates.
"Playing for Baroka was a serious highlight of my career. We
showed clubs in top flight football what we are made of. We hated losing
a match at Baroka.
"We got motivation everywhere in the Limpopo province that is why
we enjoyed our job. Winning matches was part of our contract with
Baroka.
"We were just unlucky after losing to Leopards on penalties in
the Nedbank Cup and also failed to get to the final in the national
playoffs.
"Age is on my side. I must fight for position and impress the
technical team. I'm playing with the experienced players and I'm
learning a lot from them. My aim is to play in the senior national team
in the future."
Mbhele's former clubs include African Warriors (promoted to NFD), Manchester United (Vodacom) and Abakah FC (Vodacom).
