Mbombela - A second-half goal from Collins Mbesuma was enough to earn Mpumalanga Black Aces a 1-0 win and three very important points at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday.

An uneventful first half passed without much to say for either team. Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas was one of the livelier players and managed to get a few shots away, but without success, and the first half ended without a goal.

Black Aces were the first to use their substitutes, and made some changes either side of the halftime break, with Roger Da Costa coming on for Vincent Kobola and Abia Nal replacing Dennis Masina.

After the hour mark Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma started finding his range with a bunch of shots at goal, and eventually got his reward in the 71st minute when a right-footed effort beat Maritzburg goalkeeper Virgil Vries.

In a game without many clear-cut chances, Mbesuma’s strike proved to be the difference between the two sides. Black Aces now move level in the Premiership standings with the Team of Choice, as both clubs have a tally of 30 points.
