Matuka ended a successful four-year spell with The Team of Choice by signing a three-year deal with Phunya Sele Sele, describing the move as a dream come true.
The left-back was born in Bloemfontein and sees can't wait to turn out for the team he supported growing up.
"Eish... where do I start? It's an unbelievable feeling of returning home and immediately joining the team that you have grown to so fervently adore," he told Celtic's website.
"Words cannot adequately describe how I felt the day I signed and even today still can't believe my dream has finally been fulfilled."
The full-back hopes playing for Celtic will help him grab the attention of national team coach Shakes Mashaba and earn a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.
"My ultimate goal is to play for the national team but that can only happen through 120% commitment at club level," he added.
"The easiest path towards that is consistently performing with resilience and constantly shining and that is what I'm here for."
In terms of league position it is somewhat of a sideways step for Matuka with Maritzburg and Celtic finishing the season level on points.
Both sides finished in the top eight, but Phunya Sele Sele finished above The Team of Choice on goal difference.
